- What is OOAK?
OOAK means an item is One of a Kind. For an item to be shown as OOAK on Sharky's Waters means we won't be able to make it again, either due to the artistic nature of the item or the materials used.
- Pre Owned Vintage vs Pre Owned Modern
Pre-owned vintage are items that are at least 20 years old. In most cases a general decade will be listed in the description to give you an idea of when it was made, as well well as its condition.
Pre-owned modern are any pieces that were previously used or owned by someone else but were made less than 20 years ago. Condition of these items will be listed in the description as well.
- What does "darkened patina" or "verdigris" mean?
A darkened patina means the metal parts of the piece have darkened in color with age. In most cases this can be polished or cleaned to a shinier look like it had when it was newer, but as many people like the aged look of older pieces we do not polish them ourselves.
Verdigris is where metal parts of the piece have turned green or have green oxidation on them. We do not normally sell pieces with large areas of verdigris as it can affect the wear of the piece and can be difficult to clean. In cases where an item has a small spot of verdigris seen it will be noted in the description.
- What is Vermeil
Vermeil is a layer of gold over sterling silver, whereas regular gold plated jewelry is usually a thin layer of gold plating over a base metal.
- Do you gift wrap?
At this time we do not offer gift wrapping services, but many of our jewelry and accessory items come with a cotton filled box suitable for wrapping or gift giving.
- Do you ship Internationally?
At this time we only ship to the USA and Canada.
If you wish to purchase an item to ship to a US address please make sure to enter the US address first under the shipping address and your own address under billing. If you put an International address in the shipping area it will give an error message and not allow the purchase to go through.
- What shipping service do you use?
We use USPS for shipping. Most of our items are shipped via first class or retail ground. We do not offer expedited services such as overnight express at this time.
- How long before my order is shipped?
Most items are shipped out within 1-2 busines days unless otherwise noted in the description. Business days are M-F, excluding holidays. When your order has shipped you will receive notification via email as with shipping and tracking information.
- How long will my order take to arrive to Canada?
Shipping to Canada can take a few weeks to arrive.
- Does the shipping cost include customs fees or taxes to Canada?
Customs fees and/or taxes are not included in the shipping price and are the responsibility of the customer. You may receive notice of fees due by your postal service. Please consult your postal service for more information.
- What if I need my order by a certain date?
As the USPS still has some slow downs in some areas, we ask that you purchase items well in advance of the date you will be needing them as Sharky's Waters is unable to guarantee any delivery dates. All orders are processed in the order they are received.
- Can I ship something as a gift to someone else?
Sure! Just put their address as the shipping address when ordering. You can also add a gift message to the person in the "special instructions" area of the shopping cart so they will know who it's from. If you choose not to leave a message be sure to note that it's a gift message so a detailed receipt with prices won't be included in the package.
Note: The way our cart and shipping is set up with flat fee shipping we can only ship your order to a single address, so if you are sending things to multiple addresses they will need to be purchased separately. We hope to change this in the future.
- Can I cancel my order?
We are happy to cancel orders that have not yet been shipped. Just click "Contact Us" at the bottom of right of our website page. Unfortunately we can not cancel orders once they have been shipped, but you will still have the option of returning the order once you receive it.
- Do you take returns?
Yes, we take returns for any reason. Please see our refund policies page for detailed information and limitations on returns at Refund Policy.
- What if I accidentally gave the wrong shipping address?
If the package has not yet shipped contact us immediately and we will cancel and refund your order so that you may repurchase it again with the corrected address.
If the order has already been shipped and has been returned back to us we will refund you less the original shipping so that you may repurchase again with the correct address.
Sharky's Waters is not responsible for orders shipped to incorrect addresses provided by the customer.
